Wedding Photojournalists

Photojournalism Defined

To understand what Wedding Photojournalism is, it is better to explain what photojournalism is in general. With photojournalistic photography, it is almost as if you can feel the breath that the person is breathing. You can see the flicker in his or her eyes. The laughter looks as if you can actually hear it ringing in your ears .The style of photojournalism tells the story through the images, unposed and unplanned. The pictures are raw, real, and natural. It is almost as if you are watching a documentary where a specific tone is set and the events are relatable to the person looking at the images.

Evolution of Wedding Photojournalism

Over the years, people began to waiver from the traditional direction from the photographers. Instead, the moments were allowed to unfold as natural and organically as possible. The term Wedding Photojournalism was actually penned by Denis Reggie, a former sports photographer, in 1980. He, along with others in the genre (include the photographers at Nashville Wedding Photography), felt that this style of photography was more memorable and precious. However, each photographer has his or her own opinion of photojournalism and looks at the style very objectively. Although content is the most important element in shooting in a Wedding Photojournalistic style, choosing what to take pictures of, how to correctly expose it, the way the image should be cropped, and editing techniques are always debated. Because in the photojournalistic photography style the interpretation is up to the viewer, it is rare that two photographers will ever interpret the same scene or the same photo the same way.

We work to meet every request from each client we work with, and we encourage our clients to Ask Us Questions. Our key method of delivering Wedding and Engagement photos to the clients is in chronological order – with Wedding Photojournalism and Engagement Photojournalism, it is very important that the images be viewed in order. Photojournalism embodies the telling of a story and this way, the viewer can see and experience the day moment to moment.

Special Event Photography/ Sporting Event Photography

Capturing special events requires more than just the right equipment; it requires someone with the right eye, attention to detail, and the right attitude. Event Photography such as weddings, family reunions, sports, graduations or company meetings require that special touch and connection. Our goal is to capture the feelings and emotions of the event so years later you can remember the experience right down to the smallest detail. To accomplish this, the photographer has to flow and almost become part of the event. We want the group to be comfortable with us. At large events like weddings, our preference is to have both of us there. Capturing the event with two photographers gives you more coverage, variety and memories.…

Top 10 Techniques For Wedding Photography

Posted on May 29, 2017

In the photography profession, with the exception of “war photographers”, wedding photography is perhaps the most stressful occupation.

There is a lot to think about, particularly for newcomers to wedding photography.

Let’s dive in:

1. Turn off the sound on your camera.

Quite often, a ceremony is a quiet, emotional time. The easiest way to distract guests from where their focus should be – on the bride and groom – is with a ‘click, click, click’ of a camera. What’s worse is the sound of a flash going off. These can even be amplified if the ceremony is taking place in a large, cavernous place as many churches are.

2. Don’t forget the details.

The bride and groom spent a lot of money on the smaller things for their day: The bride’s shoes, the rings, the monogram. Don’t forget to memorialize these details for the couple. Set them up in a way that’s appealing aesthetically, such as the rings on the bride’s bouquet.

3. Flip over to continuous shooting mode.

The continuous shooting mode is a great way to capture a lot of movement, which is often the case later in a reception when everyone is getting their groove on the dance floor. When shooting in this mode, you have to know your camera. Different cameras have different circumstances when it comes to shooting continuously: Some take a predetermined number of photos, such as 5, instead of shooting until you release the shutter. Some cameras limit the amount of shots you can take in this mode. Make sure you have plenty of practice and knowledge.

4. Anticipate an exquisite shot at every moment.

When shooting photojournalism-style, you never know what’s going to happen next, which means the best shot of the day could be within the next five seconds. The key to being one of the best is always anticipating those moments and having the camera ready for them. Don’t miss a thing.

5. Don’t delete the mistakes.

One of the best things about shooting digitally is being able to re-shoot a photo that didn’t come out quite as you planned. But instead of deleting those mistakes, just re-shoot it. Later, when you’re scrutinizing the photos, you might find a gem in those “mistakes,” or you might at least be able to carve a gem out of the rough by cropping, changing it into black and white or adjusting it …
